Program
Because humor finds its way into almost every human interaction, it is a very important matter. The objective of this Colloquium is to explore the breadth, depth and function of humor in our society — from the psychological basis, to the sociological role, to the mechanics of creating and performing humor. This event will pull the veil from around this essential piece of our psyches that very few people consciously consider.
We do also want to have some fun in the process, so presentations and breakout sessions will be interspersed with workshops on creating and delivering comedic material.
You don't have to be an expert in psychology or comedy to enjoy the Colloquium; you just have to be interested. You'll get the basics including terminology and concepts. When speakers introduce complex concepts, you'll have gotten necessary facts to tie the concepts together, and they will answer your questions. Workshops will be at the beginner level; discussion session moderators will make sure discussions are on topic. This is a great event for those attending their first time Mensa event or Gathering.
